On March 15th, HOPE held a Mental Health Workshop for students in Kuching. With support from Yayasan Hasanah and generous community donors, 52 students joined a full day of learning and reflection.

Across Malaysia, mental health challenges among youth continue to rise. According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 4 adolescents in Malaysia experiences depression, and nearly 1 in 10 has attempted suicide. Many students struggle in silence, unsure where to turn or how to cope with stress, pressure, and expectations.
The goal of this workshop was simple: to help students understand themselves a little better. Through hands-on activities, they explored ways to manage stress, build healthy coping habits, and improve self-awareness by recognizing their thoughts and emotions.

Workshops like this play a key role in making mental health education more accessible to students. When young people understand how to care for their mental and emotional well-being, they gain the confidence to face challenges both in school and at home.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this workshop possible. Together with our partners and community, we will continue ensuring that every young person in Malaysia has access to the support and resources they need to thrive.
