School Sponsorship Fund

The fund was set up in June 2003 with an aim to help children from hardcore families to at least complete their education at the national level and hopefully all the way to university.

Going to school has become a challenge to parents who could barely meet their basic needs. Many parents opt to send their children to work to make ends meet. With this financial support, children can now stay in school and have a future. Every year-end just before the new school year starts, HOPE worldwide KL will bring all the beneficiaries to shop for the their schooling needs, such as uniforms, shoes, bags, books, stationeries, etc.

Reading Program in Kuala Lumpur and Penang

We started the Reading Program for under privileged children from the urban poor in KL and Penang to learn reading in English with multimedia tools. Our goals for the Reading Programs are as follow:
* To mentor children from kindergarten to Standard 5.
* To provide a bridge for smoother transition from pre-school to primary school.
* To combine the academic task of reading for pleasure and to nurture a caring relationship to emotionally engage and encourage the children to become motivated, independent learners.
* To help the children build confidence in the usage of English

Coaching the children is done on a one-on-one basis with our volunteers. The classes are held every Saturday except 3rd Saturday of the month.

Creative Art

Most of the children in our community find it hard to express themselves. Through our Creative Art Program, children are able to express themselves using art. The classes are conducted every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 2pm to 5pm.

It is amazing to see how the children express themselves through art and eventually, it is our wish to see them express themselves with more confidence.

Mini Library

It opens on every Saturday, has a cozy environment and a variety of reading materials to enhance the reading habit among underprivileged children. The mini-library also complements our Reading Program whereby children are encouraged to pick a book to read after attending the classes.
